My Travels in Spain

Meals on mainland Spain have been largely disappointing in Santander, Irun( apart from the Basque desert), Pamplona, Fraga, Barcelona, Playa D'Aro, Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, Blanes, Palafrugell, Granada, Malaga, Marbella, Puerto Banus, San Pedro de Alcantara, Estapona, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Ronda and our own Gibraltar - but I do keep trying!!

Hotel Cortiho Blanco - San Pedro de Alcantara, Costa del Sol - more like a village than a hotel, comfortable but right on the "coastal highway" so can be dangerous.

Hotel Casanova - Fraga, between Zaragoza and Barcelona - triple glazed to keep out the noise from the constant stream of trucks going through this little town.

A small part of the Alhambra at Granada - well worth a visit but probably better out of the summer season

The rock of Gibraltar - looking mean and moody - easiest to park in Spain and walk over (ignore the touts while queuing offering parking in Gibraltar, the spaces don't exist) - good for duty free but I was otherwise unimpressed

Hotel Urdanibia - Irun, N,Spain

Ronda for spectacular views - inland on the Costa del Sol

Marbella - good for shopping and star spotting, especially nearby in Puerto Banus - on the Costa del Sol

Playa d'Aro - handy for visiting Barcelona or Andora - on the Costa Brava
