Of the many meals I have had in France, I regret that few
have been memorable but two that I have enjoyed were at
the Chateau Montvillargene with its restaurant
gastronomique near Chantilly and a little place called
Bistro 21 in Gouvieux. Paris has invariably been a
disappointment apart from Le Louchebem -
|
but I shall keep trying !!

Le Louchebem - near Forum
des Halles in Paris, rue de
bergere(not the Montmartre
one!) is the best place for a meal
I have found in Paris - the Boeuf
Bourguignon is superb

Chateau Montvillargene -
Gouvieux, near Chantilly - great
place to stay but it's cheaper as
part of a package and often an
extra night is given free. I stayed
in June during a local music
festival and the Russian contingent
practiced their balalaikas in the
garden - wonderful

Sacre Coeur - majestic over
Montmartre in November 2002
but all those steps - phew!

I know Paris is renowned for
bad driving but this is ridiculous

Le Louvre - 12 miles of
corridors, so don't expect to
"do" it in a day ! - it is suggested
that if you spend one second in
front of each exhibit it will take 3
months to see them all
